Tesamorelin in the US: FDA Status, Prices and Supplier Checks
Last reviewed
Tesamorelin is one of the few compounds in this catalog that is also an FDA-approved drug: it is sold in the US as Egrifta. This guide sets out how that differs from research-grade tesamorelin, what the research material costs, and how to check any supplier before ordering. To order research material, go to the tesamorelin product page.
The short version
- Two different products. Egrifta is FDA-approved tesamorelin, available only on prescription for one narrow indication. Research-grade tesamorelin is laboratory material and is not an FDA-approved drug.
- Price. Three strengths, 5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg, in boxes of 10 vials from $11.00 (£8.36) per vial, every strength priced on the product page.
- A GHRH analog, not a growth hormone. Tesamorelin is a 44-residue analog of growth-hormone-releasing hormone, a different class of molecule from HGH itself. Suppliers are selling the same compound; what differs is the documentation behind the vial.

What a US buyer should know
Points you can check independently. Nothing here is a claim about what tesamorelin does, or a statement that it is safe or effective for any purpose.
An approved drug and a research compound
Tesamorelin went through phase 3 trials published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism,1 with a follow-up analysis in Clinical Infectious Diseases.2 It is FDA-approved, as Egrifta, for one narrow indication in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy; a newer formulation, Egrifta WR, was approved in March 2025. Research-grade tesamorelin is the same molecule supplied as a lyophilized powder for laboratory work. It is not made, tested or released to FDA drug standards, so it is not Egrifta and is never a substitute for it.
Why the US story differs from the UK one
In the UK, tesamorelin holds no marketing authorization at all. In the US it is an approved drug, but only as Egrifta, only on prescription and only for that one indication. Neither fact turns research-grade material into a drug: approval attaches to a specific manufactured product, not to the molecule.
What a Certificate of Analysis is worth
Every box ships with a batch-specific COA. Batch-specific is the part that matters: a certificate for a different lot says nothing about the vial in your hand. Check the batch number on the certificate against the number printed on your box, and check that the laboratory named on it will confirm the report if asked.
What delivery to the US involves
We are a UK company. US orders ship FedEx tracked from our UK stock or direct from our verified manufacturer, depending on availability, and take 5–8 working days from dispatch. Any international parcel can be held, inspected or refused on entry to the US; if a US order is seized, we reship it once per customer at no cost, and a parcel whose tracking stalls is reshipped free. We hold no US stock.

Common questions
Is tesamorelin FDA approved?
Yes, as Egrifta, a prescription-only drug approved for one narrow indication in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Research-grade tesamorelin is a different product and is not an FDA-approved drug.
Is research tesamorelin the same as Egrifta?
It is the same molecule but not the same product. Egrifta is manufactured, tested and released under FDA approval. Research-grade tesamorelin is a lyophilized powder in a sealed vial, made for laboratory use and verified by a batch Certificate of Analysis rather than by a drug regulator.
Is research tesamorelin legal in the US?
It is laboratory material, not an FDA-approved drug, so there is no lawful route to supply it for human use, and a research-use-only label does not change that. It is supplied here as research material only. Our guide to US peptide law sets out the distinction in full.
How much does tesamorelin cost in the US?
Research-grade tesamorelin starts at $11.00 (£8.36) per vial in a box of ten, billed in US dollars. All three strengths are priced per vial and per box on the product page.
Do you ship tesamorelin to the US?
Yes, to all 50 states, FedEx tracked in 5–8 working days from dispatch. It ships from our UK stock or direct from our verified manufacturer; we have no US warehouse.
What strengths does it come in?
Three: a tesamorelin 5 mg, 10 mg or 20 mg vial, each in a box of ten.
