Sealed vials tolerate ambient temperature in transit and keep at −20 °C beyond that. Reconstitute slowly down the vial wall, swirl rather than shake, then refrigerate at 2–8 °C and aliquot before freezing.

Redox homeostasis
Glutathione is the principal intracellular thiol buffer, cycling between reduced GSH and the oxidised GSSG dimer. The ratio between the two is the standard measure of cellular oxidative state. The mitochondrial pool is maintained separately from the cytosolic one, and its depletion is studied specifically in relation to mitochondrial dysfunction. 1
Oxidative stress across physiology and disease
Glutathione appears throughout the free-radical and antioxidant literature as both a marker and a mechanism, in normal physiological function as well as in disease models. 2
What is not established
Whether supplementing glutathione raises intracellular concentrations meaningfully is contested, because the tripeptide is broken down and its constituent amino acids reabsorbed. Much of the applied literature addresses precursors such as N-acetylcysteine for exactly that reason.

Why is glutathione measured as a ratio?
Because the balance matters more than the amount. Glutathione cycles between a reduced form and an oxidised disulfide dimer, and the ratio between them indicates how much oxidative pressure a cell is under.
