How to Verify a Janoshik COA

Last reviewed

You can verify a Janoshik COA yourself in about two minutes, using two codes printed on the report and the verification form on Janoshik’s own website. A report that verifies is genuine: Janoshik tested a sample and issued that exact document. It does not prove the result belongs to the vials you are buying. This guide covers both checks: the one Janoshik’s site makes, and the one you make against your order. It works for any supplier’s certificate, ours included.

The short version

  • 1. Get the full report. The task number sits at the top and the unique key at the bottom. If either is cropped or blurred, ask for the complete report.
  • 2. Enter both codes on Janoshik’s own site. Go to janoshik.com/verification/ yourself, rather than following a link inside a PDF, and type the key in capitals.
  • 3. Read the result. “This test is in our database” means the pair exists. “No test found” means it does not.
  • 4. Open the stored report and compare every field. Janoshik treats any difference from its stored copy as not legitimate.
  • 5. Check it against your order. Match the batch number and dates to what you are buying, and ask who ordered the test.

Guide

Checking a Janoshik report, step by step

Points you can check for yourself. Nothing here is a claim about what any compound does, or a statement that it is safe or effective for any purpose.

Where to find the task number and unique key

Every Janoshik report carries two codes. The task number, such as #167355, sits at the top next to the order dates. The unique key sits in the footer, after the line “Verify this test at www.janoshik.com/verify/ with the following unique key”. The keys we have seen are 12 characters of capital letters and digits, and the key is case-sensitive: the same key typed in lower case fails 12. Many reports also carry a QR code beside the results, which opens the same stored copy. Janoshik says a report missing either code cannot be verified, and suggests asking the supplier for the full version 2. If the key is blurred, cropped or covered, ask for the original.

How to verify on janoshik.com

Open janoshik.com in your browser and choose Verify from the menu, which takes you to janoshik.com/verification/. Type the task number (with or without the # sign) and the unique key exactly as printed, in capitals, and submit. You will see one of two results 2. “No test found for the given task number and unique key” means that pair does not exist in Janoshik’s records. “This test is in our database. You can open the report and check if the data match your report” means it does. Click Open report and Janoshik shows a picture of the stored original. Put it next to the copy your supplier sent and compare every line: names, batch, dates, amounts and purity. Janoshik treats a report that differs in any way from its stored version as not legitimate 2.

What a verified report proves, and what it does not

A match proves that Janoshik received a sample, tested it and issued this report unchanged. It does not prove the sample came from your supplier’s stock or your batch. Whoever orders the test types in the Client, Sample, Manufacturer and Batch fields, and the client name defaults to “Anonymous” 3. Janoshik’s terms state that a report speaks only for the sample it received 5. Janoshik also sells Additional Reports: copies of the same result issued with a different client name, sample name, manufacturer and batch number 4. So two suppliers can show the same result under their own names, both verifying. Match the batch number and dates to your order as carefully as you check the codes.

Six fields to check against your order

Check the task number and the unique key: present, readable, identical on both copies, and verified. Read the client and manufacturer, which tell you who ordered the test and whose product it describes; “Anonymous” is Janoshik’s default. Check the sample and batch: the product name and strength should match what you are buying, and the batch should match the batch printed on your box (a “/” means no batch was given). Read the three dates, testing ordered, sample received and analysis conducted, and ask how old the test is compared with the stock on offer. Finally, check the results, the amount in milligrams and the purity percentage, which must match the stored copy to the decimal.

Verifying a Freedom Diagnostic report

Freedom Diagnostics, the other laboratory behind our certificates, uses a different system 6. Its look-up asks for a search code printed in the top-right table of the certificate: the first four letters of the company name followed by an accession number. The code is not case-sensitive. You can also search by company name, which lists every certificate issued to that company. A match shows “Document found” and opens the stored PDF to compare with your copy. Freedom has no separate secret key, and the same caution applies: a certificate speaks for the sample tested, so match the batch and dates to your order.

Questions to ask any supplier, us included

Ask for the task number and unique key for the batch you are buying, then check them yourself. Ask who ordered the test and when. Ask whether the batch number on the report is the batch printed on your box. If a supplier sends a cropped report, a different batch or no codes at all, ask why before you pay. You can ask us for the codes for any batch we ship, and our page on how to read a Certificate of Analysis explains what each result on a COA means.

Independent laboratory, independent checkJanoshik and Freedom Diagnostics are independent laboratories. Neither endorses any supplier, including us. A report speaks for the sample tested; matching its batch number to your box is the step that connects it to your order.

Common questions

Where do I verify a Janoshik report?

On Janoshik’s own website: choose Verify in the menu at janoshik.com, or go to janoshik.com/verification/. Enter the task number from the top of the report and the unique key from the bottom. Type the address yourself rather than following a link in a PDF.

Is the unique key case-sensitive?

Yes. Type it in capital letters, exactly as printed. The same key in lower case returns “No test found”. The task number works with or without the # sign.

What does “No test found” mean?

Janoshik has no record of that task number and unique key together. Re-check both codes for typing errors first. If they still fail, the report does not match Janoshik’s records, and you should ask the supplier for an explanation and the full original report.

Does a verified report prove my vials are pure?

No. It proves Janoshik tested a sample and issued that report unchanged. Janoshik’s report covers only the sample it received. Check that the batch number on the report matches the batch on your box, and that the test is recent.

Can the same result appear under different names?

Yes. Janoshik sells Additional Reports, copies of one result issued with a different client, sample name, manufacturer and batch. The client also types those names in when ordering. A verified report under a supplier’s name does not, on its own, prove the result came from that supplier’s stock.

How do I verify a Freedom Diagnostic report?

Use the COA look-up on Freedom Diagnostics’ website. Enter the search code from the top-right table of the certificate: four letters of the company name plus an accession number. It is not case-sensitive, and a match opens the stored PDF to compare.
